Two great pedals in a single stompbox. The GT-500 Effects Pedal from Fulltone is a discrete FET Hi-Gain Distortion and Overdrive Booster in one box. You could think of them as 2 separate pedals, or think of them as stages to be linked together for endless combinations. The Hi-Gain side has Volume, Distortion knobs, Bass, Mid, and Highs minipots. Its Booster Side has Volume, Overdrive knobs, Bass and Highs minipots. Hard-clipped distortion-the way most guitar pedals achieve distortion-at one point in a circuit can be cool, but stage after stage of FET (GT-500) is very real, very amplike, and has ridiculous amounts of sustain even at low volume. It does the great chunky low-string rhythm stuff and cleans up incredibly well when you turn down the guitar's volume. The Fulltone GT500 contains 9 FETs, 2 Mosfets, and 1 Transistor with no opamps or clipping diodes used. What's special about the EQ? The Hi-Gain side has a discrete Inductor-Driven Midrange circuit-never been done in a pedal before. There's a wah-wah inductor inside the pedal that gives the Midrange control its ability to drastically increase or decrease the entire Low Mid, Mid, and Hi-Mid frequencies, to comical proportions. All this is done without any opamps-this has 100% discrete matched FETs. This Mid control mixed with a strong Bass and Treble control help give the Fulltone GT-500 the ability to dial in more variations than a simple tone control, which can only roll off the Highs. The Series Select Switch allows you to choose which pedal comes first (allowing you to instantly change the order of the 2 circuits). For example: A clean boost slamming into the front end a Distortion sounds way different than a Distortion followed by the clean boost, and when the EQs of the respective sides come into play, it's a wide-open canvas. Posee 3 canales. Uno limpio, un ‘’Crunch’’ y otro ‘’Overdrive’’ (que pueden tomarse como 2 canales ya que posee dos tipos de Overdrives). El amplificador también tiene una selección de efectos integrados que incluyen: Reverb, Delay, Flanger, Chorus y una combinación de Chorus y Delay. Tiene entrada de Input, CD in y Line out/Auriculares y el botón para cambiar de canal. Tiene una especie de simulador de válvulas llamado FDD (No me acuerdo que significaban estas siglas en ingles) que tiene la intención de darle un sonido más (valga la redundancia) a válvulas. En la parte de atrás tiene entrada para Footswitch (que viene incluido con el amplificador) y el Loop de efectos. Antes de empezar la descripción del sonido quiero aclarar que hablamos de un amplificador transistorizado, así que el sonido nunca va a emular el tono de las válvulas, por lo tanto la review va a estar enfocada en cómo suena el ampli de por sí, sin compararlo con amplis valvulares, ya que sería una comparación injusta y sin sentido. Vayamos al sonido del amplificador en cuestión. Empecemos por el canal limpio: El canal limpio tiene controles de Gain (Ganancia), Bass (Bajos), Middle (Medios) y Treble (Agudos). El sonido del canal independientemente de le ecualización que uno elija, tiene bastante cuerpo y es un tanto obscuro, no posee limpios ‘’cristalinos’’ así que arpegiando capas no sea donde más resalte el canal, pero haciendo bases rítmicas al tener cuerpo es mucho más agradable ya que llena (por decirlo de algún modo) mas. El canal funciona muy bien con pedales de Overdrive y distorsion. Pasemos al canal ‘’Crunch’’:  Este canal depende exclusivamente de la ecualización que usemos en el canal limpio, ya que comparten los controles. Al igual que el limpio (y el amplificador en general) tiene un sonido obscuro y con cuerpo, lo cual hace que este canal (personalmente hablando) sea agradable para bases mas rockeras/bluseras, o cosas que no requieran mucha ganancia. También es agradable para hacer solos aunque no es el fuerte del sonido de este canal. Ahora el canal (o canales) de Overdrive: Este canal posee Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Contour y Volumen. El canal se divide en dos tipos de Overdrive el OD1 y OD2. El OD1 es un Overdrive más clásico, para rock no muy cargado. El sonido (A diferencia del canal limpio/Crunch) es mas brilloso y filoso y carece del cuerpo que tienen los otros canales, pero sigue manteniendo (aunque más de fondo) ese sonido obscuro que mencione anteriormente. El OD2 es un overdrive ya más cargado, acá recupera un poco mas de cuerpo el sonido, aunque no deja de ser mas brilloso y filoso. En este canal podemos ir desde un hard rock al mejor estilo AC/DC hasta a un metal como el de Iron maiden, o un poco mas. Depende de la ecualización, el canal puede llegar a funcionar para un metal pesadito, pero hay que buscarle la vuelta. Efectos: Los efectos que posee este ‘’canal’’ son los ya mencionado anteriormente (Reverb, delay, chorus y flanger). Empecemos por el Flanger: Este efecto es el que a mí personalmente me pareció menos logrado, es difícil de describir ya que no soy experto en flangers. En general lo noto muy exagerado y poco flexible al momento de tocar con el efecto, es como si la guitarra sonara por un lado y el efecto por el otro, como si fuera un sonido independiente al movimiento de la guitarra (como dije difícil de explicar al no ser conocedor ni fanático del efecto) Pasemos ahora a la reverb: Aca se pone mejor la cuestión. La reverb esta mejor lograda que el Flanger sin dudas, va desde una muy sutil reverb como si estuvieras en una habitación grande, hasta como si estuvieras en un galpón (por dar un ejemplo). Lo malo de este efecto es que hasta cierto punto se mezcla bien con el sonido de la guitarra, pero pasado cierto punto (pasando las 12 del mediodía en la perilla) ya no se mezcla tan bien, nuevamente el efecto se separa del sonido y parecieran independientes uno del otro. Vamos con el chorus: Este es uno de los efectos mejores logrados del amplificador. A diferencia de los otros, este nunca se ‘’independiza’’ del sonido de la guitarra, lo cual ya es un gran punto a favor. Con la perilla de efectos podes ir desde un Chorus liviano y sutil hasta un Chorus bien notorio pero que no llega a la locura que un pedal de efectos individual podría hacer. El efecto hace más interesante al sonido limpio de la guitarra, pero le quita algo de flexibilidad.  Por último pero no menos importante el Delay: Este efecto me parece el mejor logrado de todos los que tiene, aunque si bien no tiene un rango muy grande de efecto, logra un efecto de coro bastante agradable hasta un delay rápido ideal para los solos o para rellenar bases y arpegios.
